2 Augusta men acquitted of assault charge

Two men accused of aggravated assault for wounding an Augusta man in a drive-by shooting were acquitted of all charges Wednesday.

Richard J. Mills, 20, and Marion I. Daggett, 20, were each charged with aggravated assault and a weapon charge in the July 13, 2012 shooting of Shawn B. Doby Jr., 21.

A Richmond County Superior Court jury deliberated about an hour Wednesday before returning the not guilty verdicts.




Savannah River Site resumes normal activity

A suspicious item was discovered Wednesday afternoon at the Savannah River National Laboratory which prompted emergency responseactivities.
