Harlem police seek fleeing traffic suspect

Harlem police are looking for a Warrenton, Ga., man who led officers on a chase Monday night into McDuffie County.

William “Ike” Marlow, of South Gibson Road, is wanted on charges of fleeing and attempting to elude police, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, driving on the wrong side of the road, disregarding a stop sign and driving without insurance, according to Harlem Police Department Chief Gary Jones.

Just after 5 p.m., a Harlem officer tried to stop a man believed to be Marlow, who was leaving a suspected drug area on Gordon Highway near Lamkin Road on a 1995 Kawasaki motorcycle. He didn’t stop and continued west onto County Line Road and Whiteoak Road in McDuffie County.

With law enforcement in pursuit, the motorcycle crashed on Old Whiteoak Road at Old Augusta Highway in Dearing. Marlow, who likely sustained a leg injury in the crash, ran into a nearby wooded area, according to Jones. Authorities set up a perimeter and used dog to track Marlow, who is believed to have gotten a ride out of the area or hidden in a residence.

Anyone with information about Marlow’s whereabouts is asked to call the Harlem Police Department at (706) 556-6262 or Jones at (706) 564-2010.
