Dead cows lead to SC woman arrest

HONEA PATH, S.C. — Anderson County Sheriff’s deputies have charged a woman with six counts of mistreatment of animals after they found several dead cows in a barn.

Animal control investigators were called to a barn in Honea Path on a report that several cows had been shot. Deputies say there were three dead cows in the barn but they had died from mistreatment.

Thirty-three-year-old Hilerey Jessica Kinzel was charged.

Two other cows and a horse were also malnourished and found in the barn.

Kinzel was being held in the Anderson County jail. It was not clear if she has an attorney.



Savannah River Site resumes normal activity

A suspicious item was discovered Wednesday afternoon at the Savannah River National Laboratory which prompted emergency responseactivities.
