Gunman sought in morning Augusta shooting

Richmond County authorities are searching for a gunman involved in a drive-by shooting Monday that wounded a 29-year-old man.


Deputies were called to the 1600 block of Bryn Mawr Avenue about 3:30 a.m.

According to an incident report, three people were sleeping when someone shot at the home.

Lecola Mercedes Jenkins was wounded in the lower leg. Police said Jenkins was sleeping in a chair in the living room.

He was taken by ambulance to Medical College of Georgia Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Several bullet casings were found on the street.
