Man arrested after stolen goods found

Charles Larke Jr. was arrested Monday after deputies uncovered a large amount of stolen items in his vehicle.

Larke, the 28-year-old son of former Richmond County schools Superintendent Charles Larke, has been charged with theft by receiving stolen property and three counts of financial card transaction theft.

Richmond County sheriff’s Investigator David Dutton said officers were called to the Motel 6, 201 Boy Scout Road, for suspicious activity. Later they discovered stolen items including, cell phones, stereos, gaming systems, credit cards and a set of golf clubs, in the back of a white Lincoln belonging to Larke. Some of the items had been reported stolen earlier that day.

Dutton said Larke claimed he had bought the items from a man at a convenience store.

Larke has a history of charges with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
