2 Columbia County men face drug charges

Columbia County authorities arrested two men Thursday on drug charges.


Sheriff’s office narcotics investigators executed a search warrant on the home of Charles Joseph Howard, 29, on Sylvan Lake Drive in Grovetown.

Authorities found more than 2 pounds of marijuana, more than a pound of hashish, a small amount of mushrooms and nine bottles of Equibol, an anabolic steroid and horse feed supplement. Investigators also seized a 9 mm pistol, drug paraphernalia, $4,385 in cash, a 2005 Nissan Altima and a Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

Howard was charged with purchase/possession/manufacture/distribution/sale of a controlled substance.

He was released from the Columbia County Detention Center after posting a $7,600 bond, according to jail records.

As part of another investigation, deputies stopped a 2003 Honda Accord driven by Stuart Clifton Scott II on Thursday. Inside the car, deputies found about 5 ounces of marijuana and seized the car.

While searching Scott’s Crystal Creek Drive home in Martinez, investigators seized a small amount of marijuana, 67.5 Schedule II pills, 14 Scheduled III pills, two Schedule IV pills, $3,365 in cash and a pistol.

Scott, 21, was charged with possession of Schedule II, III and IV drugs, and two counts of possession with intent to distribute.

He’s being held in the jail on a $38,000 bond, according to jail records.



Savannah River Site resumes normal activity
