No bond for suspect in weekend robberies

An Aiken County man remains held without bond in the Richmond County jail following weekend robberies in the Augusta Mall parking lot.

According to Richmond County Sheriff's Office reports, Jamie Trey Robinson, 35, of Bath, is being held in the Friday robbery and hijacking of two men.

The first victim, a 62-year-old Sylvania man, told officers a man approached him in the parking lot with a gun and demanded money. The suspect then ran through the parking lot where he met his second victim, a Savannah man.  That victim told police he was approached by an armed man in the parking lot who took his work van.

When police attempted a traffic stop on Wrightsboro Road, the driver of the stolen van struck several vehicles, then fled on foot.  At one point the bandit, identified as Robinson, attempted to jump on the hood of a moving police cruiser but missed. He was finally apprehended in the 3200 block of Wrightsboro Road.

Robinson is being held under charges of armed robbery, motor vehicle hijacking, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and obstruction of a law enforcement officer.
