Police seek link to Waffle House holdups

A man who fired shots and left with cash in a Waffle House robbery this morning could be connected to a similar armed robbery in North Augusta Tuesday morning.

 The man in a ski mask entered the Waffle House at 2974 Riverwatch Parkway around 1 a.m., fired a round into the air and told the waitress and cook to get on the floor, according to an incident report.

 He then took the cash drawer and fled.

 On Tuesday around 3 a.m. a man in a hooded sweatshirt entered a Waffle House at 960 Edgefield Road, North Augusta, and also discharged one round and demanded the three employees inside hit the floor before fleeing with the cash.

 Richmond County sheriff’s Capt. Scott Peebles said police suspect the two incidents could be related. Authorities are currently reviewing surveillance videos at the two restaurants
