Augusta man indicted in grandmother's beating death

Theodore Cornell Lockett was indicted by a Richmond County grand jury this week on murder charges stemming from the brutal beating death of his 92-year-old grandmother in January.

Lockett, 21, is accused of breaking into Dorothy Lockwood’s home at 1311 Apache Lane then beating the woman on the head with a glass table and a microwave oven, according to court documents.

Afterward, authorities said Lockett called his mother and told her he was coming for her next.

He was arrested at the scene and faces charges of murder, burglary and terroristic threats.
