Ex-worker takes beer, police say

A disgruntled ex-employee suspected of stealing came back to the Gordon Highway Chevron twice Thursday evening to take a few packs of Bud, according to a police incident report.

The man, known as “Joe,” had been allowed to clean up around the store at 1500 Gordon Highway for store credit, but after he was suspected of stealing and reselling merchandise, management asked that he never come back, police said.

When he returned to the store around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, an employee threatened to call the cops. Joe replied, “You calling the cops on me? Well then tell them I took this as well.” He grabbed a 30-pack of Bud Lite and left the store.

But two hours later, he returned and immediately reached for two more 30-packs. An employee approached the subject, but let him leave the store with the merchandise after he saw a knife in the subject’s hands, police said.
