Teen arrested after shootout

An Augusta teen whose house was sprayed with bullets Wednesday night was arrested after police said he shot and wounded another man in retaliation.

Around 10 shots were fired into a residence on the 2000 block of Wharton Drive around 10 p.m. Wednesday, Richmond County sheriff's Sgt. Blaise Dresser said. Several small children were inside at the time.

Thomas Baker, 18, who lived in the home, then took his gun and ran to Cooney Circle where he fired several shots, striking Brandon Guidry once, Dresser said.

Authorities said there was no evidence to suggest the family at Wharton Drive saw who shot their home or that Guidry was connected to the original shooting.

Baker was charged with misdemeanor charges of reckless conduct, carrying a concealed weapon and obstruction of law enforcement.

Guidry's wound did not appear life threatening injuries, police said.
