SPRINGFIELD, Ga. — A Georgia murder suspect's lover has testified that he threatened to "play old school" with his father and his brother, who was also her husband, shortly before they were both shot to death.
Robin Rast Heidt was testifying Friday in the Effingham County trial of 42-year-old Craig Heidt, who faces life in prison if convicted of the August 2008 slayings.
Prosecutors say Heidt used a shotgun to kill his father, real estate developer Philip Heidt, and brother, Carey Heidt, as a family feud escalated over an affair the defendant was having with his brother's wife.
Robin Heidt testified that efforts by her father-in-law and husband to stop the affair angered Craig Heidt. But she said he denied killing them when she asked him.
