Grovetown High student arrested

 A Grovetown High School student was arrested this morning after he ran from school officials and police.

Tre Pierre Jenkins, 18, of Lake Forest Drive in Grovetown, was charged with simple battery, obstruction of an officer and disruption or interference with the operation of public school, according to Columbia County Detention Center records.  

Just before 10 a.m., school officials were trying to determine if Jenkins had drugs when he hit a counselor and assistant principal and ran from the school, according to Columbia County sheriff's Capt. Steve MorrisJenkins ran into a nearby neighborhood, where police found him. He was arrested in a wooded area behind 2147 Sylvan Lake Drive.

Jenkins was being held in the detention center late this afternoon on a $3,300 bond, according to jail records.
