An Augusta meter reader has been taken into custody for selling crack cocaine from his work truck while on duty, according to a news release.
The Richmond County Sheriff's Office Special Investigation Section began investigating 46-year-old Troy Curry after receiving a tip.
Investigators stopped Curry in his Augusta Utilities work truck around 11 a.m. at the 1700 block of Walton Way, according to Richmond County sheriff's Captain Scott Peebles.
Curry had 8 grams of crack cocaine and more than $1,600 in cash in the vehicle at the time.
Peebles said he has a history of cocaine-related convictions.
