Augusta utilities worker busted for drugs

Troy Curry, 46

An Augusta meter reader has been taken into custody for selling crack cocaine from his work truck while on duty, according to a news release.


The Richmond County Sheriff's Office Special Investigation Section began investigating 46-year-old Troy Curry after receiving a tip.

Investigators stopped Curry in his Augusta Utilities work truck around 11 a.m. at the 1700 block of Walton Way, according to Richmond County sheriff's Captain Scott Peebles.

Curry had 8 grams of crack cocaine and more than $1,600 in cash in the vehicle at the time.

Peebles said he has a history of cocaine-related convictions.
