Laney girls win in OT

Laney 69, Morgan County 66 (OT)

SAVANNAH, Ga. — The Laney girls basketball team overcame two 15-point deficits and a game-tying Morgan County basket at right around the fourth-quarter buzzer to win in overtime, 69-66, on Saturday at Savannah State.

Katice Williams scored all 15 of her points after halftime as Laney (29-1) rallied and advanced to the Class AA state semifinals.

The Lady Wildcats controlled the glass in key moments and forced turnovers late as they held the Lady Bulldogs without a point in the extra period.

“The kids were relentless,” Lady Wildcats coach Otis Smart said with a smile.
