Tammy Horne hugs her son Mark Broome, 18, who has returned from the hospital. Mr. Broome works at the Avondale Mills Greg Plant and left when he thought he smelled gas. He crashed into a tree that had been knocked over by the train wreck. Mr. Broome, who was trapped in his car for hours until being rescued, shows chemical burns on his arm to his mother and stepfather, David Horne. He said he thought he would die.
