David and Diane Lapsey welcome the season when it’s time to decorate their home.
Diane continues having the urge to display her valued collectibles to ensure the Lapsey home reflects the festive season.
‘‘Also, I’ve always enjoyed snow. That comes from when I was growing up in the North,’’ she said, reflecting on her formative years in New York and Michigan.
The Lapseys’ 2,200-square-
foot, four-bedroom home is sprinkled with family heirlooms and a 600-piece snowman collection that effectively dots every room, including two bathrooms.
Each room has its own color-coordinated theme. In addition to expected reds, greens and whites, Lapsey uses sky-blue, orange and her favorite – purple – to enhance her themes.
Several nativity scenes and 13 Christmas trees add to the festive ambiance.
Lapsey said her decorating process lasts from mid September through early November.
‘‘As parents of three (adult) children and foster parents of many more, we’ve always gotten so much joy watching their eyes light up around this time of year,’’ she said.
