Landon Washington feels the weight that comes with being the senior quarterback and veteran of the North Augusta program.
One of the top passing quarterbacks in the area, Washington totaled more than 2,400 yards and 24 touchdowns as a junior last season. Expectations are high for another successful individual season, because Washington possesses one of the strongest arms around.
He’s also been in North Augusta’s system for several years and knows what to expect.
“I feel like I should be more of a leader this year, because I’ve been playing for so long, and we have a lot of young kids on the varsity level this year,” Washington said. “They trust me more this year now since I’m a senior and I’ve been starting for so long now. I feel like I have more room this year to have a great season and play hard.”
After going 7-5 and reaching the second round of the Class AAAA playoffs last year, North Augusta would surely like to experience a deeper run while contending for a region championship in Washington’s final season. A host of talented skill players will complement the standout quarterback as the Yellow Jackets aim for more.
“I’m excited for this season and we’re looking to go deep into the playoffs this season,” Washington said. “All of us stay on the same page, no breakdowns, keep our head on the prize and play hard ball every Friday.”
