Wildcats are tamed

PLAY OF THE GAME: Trailing just 7-6 late in third quarter, Laney sophomore quarterback Leo Myers mishandled a snap in the Wildcats' end zone. Dodge County's Chris Hightower recovered the fumble for a touchdown, giving the Indians a 14-6 lead with 35 seconds left in the period.

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Dodge County senior running back Cyprin Burse carried 20 times for 57 yards in the first half alone. Burse tallied a game-high 93 yards on 26 carries.

WHY DODGE COUNTY WON: The Indians set the tone early, as Burse got the handoff on their first 10 offensive plays.

WHY LANEY LOST: The Wildcats had four turnovers and couldn't stop the Dodge County running game. Laney's passing game never got in gear.

QUOTEBALE: "I thought we played kind of flat at the start and then we got our feet under us after a while." -- Dodge County head coach Lee Campbell
