Willie Nelson says things have changed since he began his involvement with Farm-Aid.

``When I first got into it, I thought it would be a one-time deal, but naturally it didn't happen that way,'' Mr. Nelson said Wednesday in Columbia, S.C., where he held a press conference to announce William-Bryce Stadium will be the site of an Oct. 12 Farm Aid concert.

Rhamstine turns down civic center job

The money was right, but at the last minute, John Rhamstine thought better of coming to Augusta. A day after the Augusta-Richmond County Coliseum Authority voted 6-5 to hire the 41-year-old from Norfolk, Va.'s Scope arena, civic center officials received a fax announcing that Mr. Rhamstine was declining the offer to manage the civic center.

 In the Olympic-class Georgia heat Wednesday, Augusta Mayor Larry Sconyers wiped his forehead. He could have used one of the ice-cold sweatbands on sale Wednesday morning at ``Georgia Tourism on Parade'' - a festival set up by the Georgia Department of Industry, Trade and Tourism.
