W hat Christopher Jeburk feared most came true Thursday. He will spend the rest of his life behind bars, a federal judge ruled. The 20-year-old's crimes deserved even more than what the federal sentencing guidelines demanded, U.S. District Judge Dudley H. Bowen Jr. ruled.

Jet fleeing Bertha crashes into house

PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) - An Air Force F-16 fighter plane being flown from South Carolina because of Hurricane Bertha crashed into a house Thursday, setting the home on fire and sending pieces of the jet flying through a neighborhood. One child was missing and at least two adults were injured, authorities said.

Olympic torch burns local bucks

The torch is the most revered symbol of the Olympic Games, but for many American towns, the eternal flame is a symbol of blazing bucks. The 15,000-mile torch run through 43 states is a multimillion dollar endeavor, partially funded by corporate sponsors and the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games. But a large share of the cost falls to local governments and tourism agencies.
