Watkins state champion in 100, 200

JEFFERSON, Ga. — Grove­town senior Darius Watkins won two state championships Saturday in the Georgia High School Association Class AAAAA meet.

Watkins first took the 100 meters with a time of 10.49 seconds, edging William Johnson, of Lakeside-DeKalb (10.50). The 2013 state champion in the 200, Watkins defended his crown, finishing first in 21.27.

In Class AAA, Washington County’s Quintaveon Poole won the state title in the 400 meters (47.30) and 200 meters (21.62).
