Bill Jackson named Deal Senate floor leader


ATLANTA -- Gov.-elect Nathan Deal today announced that Columbia County state Sen. Bill Jackson will be one of his three floor leaders in the Georgia Senate.


After Gov.- elect Deal takes office Jan. 10., Jackson and others will serve as liaisons between the governor and the state Senate to ensure that the important legislative agenda of the governor is accomplished in order to best serve the state of Georgia.


According to a news release, Jackson, an Appling Republican, has served in the state Senate three years. Prior to his service as senator, he served as a state representative for 16 years.  He is the founder and president of a successful business, Tile Center, Inc., which has locations in Augusta, Martinez, Statesboro and Greensboro, as well as Aiken.
