The summer slump
Web-posted 6/26/2004
We're heading into that "Summer Slump" stage. You know - that time after July 4 when you've had enough of the pool, it's too hot to spend much time outside, the best summer movies have already been watched, friends are out-of-town and sprinklers just don't hold the same appeal as they did a few weeks earlier. Even watermelon and popcicles just aren't quite as satisfying.

Immunizatons: to believe or not to believe
Web-posted 6/26/2004
Scared to give your child immunizations? Don't be. "When it comes to child health, prevention is always better than treatment, and nowhere is this more evident than with immunizations," states Carden Johnston, President of the American Academy of Pediatrics. While most parents understand and would agree that thousands of children's lives have been saved or disability prevented with the creation of vaccinations/immunizations, many still have questions about the need for immunizations today and if the risk to their child is greater with immunizations than without. So what should a parent believe? Below are some of the most common myths and realities about immunizations, courtesy of the Centers for Disease Control and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
