Climb aboard this Express

If you think the federal government is out of control and running roughshod over the Constitution and your freedom, you are not alone.

That's the message of the cross-country "Tea Party Express II" caravan that will stop at Augusta Common at 10:30 a.m. today for a rally that actually begins at 10 a.m.

We hope every area citizen concerned about federal spending and the attempted federal takeover of health care will be at the rally.

And make no mistake: This will be a rally, not a protest. With upbeat speakers and a handful of musical acts, organizers bill it as a "traveling Fourth of July show."

The bottom-line message is this: If you think the federal government is becoming far too intrusive in our lives, you need to become aware, connected and active in this movement that is fighting back. The Tea Party Express rally today is a great way to start.

The caravan is hitting 40 cities on its 19-day barnstorming tour from San Diego to Orlando that ends Thursday, stopping in locales that have showed interest and were bypassed by the first such caravan a month or so before. Augusta is one of those cities.

Left-leaning media want to portray conservative activists - if they cover them at all - as crazy, dangerous or irrelevant, despite the fact that resistance to an overbearing government is a cherished birthright extolled and exhibited by the country's founders. Here's your opportunity to exercise that right and prove it's the media that are irrelevant.

What the federal government is doing - spending us to oblivion, saddling our children with the debt and attempting to take over health care - is wrong, immoral and unconstitutional.

Come out today and say so!
