Early this year, my wife, Jo, was diagnosed with cancer. The prognosis, as we continue to understand it, is good. The treatment, which is still ongoing, has been difficult. My wife, far stronger and resolute than I, has handled the monumental measure of discomfort, uncertainty and loss of control dealt to her with incredible grace and strength. I am fairly certain, were I to be faced with all she must endure, would not function quite as effectively. I’m not sure, in fact, I would function at all.
