Winter storm shuts down much of Ga.

ATLANTA — Highway crews worked to keep major roads passable while Georgia Power workers dealt with weather-related outages from a winter storm that dumped several inches of snow on much of the state.

Ambulance slides into ditch; icy roads expected tonight

Illustrating just how treacherous the roads are, an ambulance slid down a 30-foot embankment off Atomic Road this afternoon, according to Aiken County sheriff's Capt. Troy Elwell. No one was injured, and no patients were inside.
