An Augusta man whose use of corporal punishment left his 12-year-old with injuries was granted bond Friday.
Clifford J. Curtis Jr., 34, was granted a $25,000 bond in Richmond County Superior Court, nearly a month after his Oct. 17 arrest on a charge of cruelty to children in the first degree.
According to the sheriff’s investigation, Curtis used an extension cord to whip his son 15 to 20 times because the child had gotten into trouble at school. He told the investigator he didn’t realize the cord would cause injury.
As a condition of bond, Curtis is not to have any contact with his son until the criminal charge is resolved.
