Aiken man injured in carjacking

An Aiken man suffered serious injuries to his head after he was clubbed with a rifle during a carjacking early Saturday morning, a report shows.

The victim, Anthony Omar, got a call from a man he only knew as Mike or "Pimpin" asking for a ride around 1:30 a.m. When Omar showed up at the 2100 block of C. Street, Mike and three other men were waiting to rob him, a Richmond County sheriff's report states.

Omar said he handed over $50 cash, but the men hit him in the face and in the back of the head with an AK-47. Omar fled to a nearby house, where the resident called 911. The assailants took the car, but jumped out and fled on foot when they saw deputies approaching, a report says.

An investigating deputy said the victim suffered "severe swelling" to his left eye and blood coming from the side of his head. He was taken to Medical College of Georgia Hospital for his injuries.

Omar only knew partial names of the other suspects, who remain at large: Kareem, "Lazy Eye" Mike and Quantez.
