Authorities are investigating a Friday night fire as arson, according to the Richmond County Sheriff's Office.
A deputy responded shortly after 9:40 p.m. to a call about a fire in the 2300 block of Canberra Court, according to a report.
When the deputy arrived, a small fire was still burning on the back patio. The back glass sliding door was shattered, and the door frame was burned.
A path of burned grass led from the front of the residence to the patio. The home appeared to be vacant, but furniture and bags of clothing were inside, the report said.
The fire department was called and the investigation turned over to an arson investigator.
The deputy was unable to determine the owner of the residence, according to the report.
