Augusta woman arrested after store theft attempt

A woman was arrested on Thursday and charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor after she and four juveniles were caught trying to shoplift from Sears Department Store at the Augusta Mall.

According to Richmond County jail records, officers arrested Doreen L. Goldson, 27, currently a resident of the Red Carpet Inn at 2050 Gordon Highway.

A store employee told officers that at about 3 p.m. Wednesday, four juveniles were caught on a surveillance camera taking MP3 players from the electronics section and concealing them in their clothing and handbags, according to a Richmond County sheriff's report.

The surveillance recording showed the woman walking up to the juveniles while talking on her cell phone. The woman was facing one of the juveniles when he took an MP3 player and concealed it in the front of his pants. T

The woman did not take any action to stop the juvenile and continued to watch and do nothing as the other children shoplifted MP3 players as well.

Three of the juveniles were the woman's siblings, and one of the juveniles was the woman's daughter, the report states.
