He has written for newspapers in Napoleon, Ohio, Moline, Ill., and Lima, Ohio. He holds a bachelor of science in journalism from Ohio University (1992). In 2006, he received a second place award in business writing from the Association Press in Ohio.

Hilton opens new hotel in Augusta

Home2 Suites by Hilton, located in Augusta Exchange near the Savannah River Banking Co. building, is finished and open.


The four-story, 123-suite hotel is the second one of that brand in Georgia. Its focus is on business travelers and extended-stay guests, which is why it has a laundry and fitness area in addition to the standard hotel amenities.


Hilton says there are 70 Home2 Suites being developed across the country.




  • Knology signs have started coming down and being replaced by the WOW! Internet, Cable & Phone logo. 
  • Shut down in 2010, Savannah Lakes Resort, an 80 room, lakefront resort and conference center in McCormick, re-opened on Sunday. 
  • Twinkies will be back on the shelves this summer after Apollo Global Management and Metropoulos buy Hostess products for $410 million. 
  • Augusta metro unemployment rate increased in January to 9 percent.
