Augusta's IntelliSystems will be branching out

Augusta information technology firm IntelliSystems is opening a new office in Aiken this month, and another in downtown Columbia in January.

Kevin Wade started the business in 1993 and it has been a downtown Augusta denizen. It is about to establish a place in downtown Aiken too – in The Alley.

The slicing of the ceremonial ribbon is Nov. 14. The Columbia office expansion will be at the Atrium on Stoneridge Drive near Riverbanks Zoo.

IntelliSystems has 11 employees now and will be adding staff for each of the two new locations.

Clients include shopping mall owner Hull Storey Gibson, Kendrick Paint & Body and Serotta Maddocks Evans, CPA.

BREAD DOMINATION: Flowers Food, which is based in Thomasville but makes some bread in Augusta, acquired the trademark licenses for the Sara Lee and Earthgrains brand of breads in California. That represents access to $134 million in sales. They are waiting to get the rights for a royalty-free license for Earthgrains in Oklahoma City.

The new brand territories increases the company’s footprint to about 70 percent of the U.S. population.

Chief executive George Deese said the company is trying to get to 75 percent by 2016.

LAKE OCONEE RITZ: The Ritz-Carlton Lodge, Reynolds Plantation, which is the AAA Five Diamond property on Lake Oconee, is beginning an extensive refurbishment of 251 guest rooms and suites.

According to the hotel: “The new décor has been meticulously designed to capture the area’s colorful Southern history and compelling beauty, while infusing a clean, hand-crafted residential feel.”

And it is supposed to be done by the end of March.
