I was born in Los Angeles, Calif. but have never lived anywhere long enough to call it a home town. I have, in chronological order, been considered a resident of Los Angeles, Portland, Houston, Augusta, England, Sacramento, and Washinton State. I'm a graduate of Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School and Western Washington University (B.A. - Journalism) and covered arts and entertainment at the Augusta Chronicle from 1999 to 2010. I am the current News Editor at the Columbia County News-Times.

How many great acts before it becomes worth the effort?

The fine folks at the Bonnaroo Music Festival announced the line-up for the 2009 event, which takes place June 11-14 in Manchester, Tenn. The bill is full of marquee acts, some I have never seen and some I have always hoped to see again. But here's the thing. I covered this festival in 2006 and it was exhausting.  The heat and people and dust and commotion take a toll. On the initial list, there are 26 acts that I would either like to see or curious enough about that, if in the neighborhood, I might wander toward. It's expected that another round of announcements will add about 40 acts.

While this is impressive for the Bonnaroo promotion team, it's unfortunate for me. I know that at some point I'll decide heading back into Bonnaroo's hippy-dippy fray is worthwhile and I know that should I do it, I'll also reach a point where I question that judgement.

The line-up is below.
