I moved to Augusta in 2008 to cover religion for the Chronicle. I didn't know a soul this far South at the time, but the area is quickly becoming home. Before then, I covered the cop beat and crime while working at a newspaper in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. I got my start in Virginia writing features for a community weekly while in college.

FBI serves warrant at Angel Food Ministries

Walton County media are reporting that Angel Food Ministries is under investigation.

Apparently, on Wednesday, the FBI served a search warrants to the food relief agency, which uses more than 30 churches Augusta and Aiken as distribution sites.

The ministry buys food in bulk, divvies it up and sells each box for about $30, half of what it would cost to buy off grocery store shelves. An Angel Food spokesman said the raid hasn’t affected the ministry’s operations, so churches should still receive deliveries.
