I grew up in the Augusta area, living in Waynesboro for as long as I can remember. I went to college in Indianapolis, interned at the Chronicle over summer and Christmas breaks, and landed a job as sports clerk the summer after I graduated. Eventually, the sports job turned into writing for the business section and now I report on local business happenings as well as writing for the Shopgirl column/blog.

Augusta designer featured in online tastemaker sale

Wesley Cadle has had his retail store on Monte Sano Avenue open for six months, but customers from all over the world will be able to buy his favorite summer items through a sale starting June 1.
One Kings Lane, an online sales site that works with designers from all over the world, is partnering with Cadle and five other designers to curate a Summer Soiree Tastemaker Tag Sale. The designers selected items they love to use for summer entertaining, from clay lanterns to fish-shaped bottle openers, and made them available through One Kings Lane.
“The sale is a mixup of the tastes of designers from all over, for an ordinary client who just wants a little design in their party,” Cadle said.
One Kings Lane is an excellent resource for design-conscious shoppers, Cadle said, because it makes well-known designers’ taste and expertise available to anyone. The Summer Soiree sale is a perfect example of that, he said; the items he selected for his portion of the sale have already been hits at his retail store or in events he has hosted, but are now available only through the online sale.
“You’re buying something that has already been a part of a successful party,” he said.
In addition to shopping at the One Kings Lane sale, Cadle suggests hosts pay close attention to details like music, food and drinks for memorable summer entertaining.
“If you have those elements and a great guest list, you can’t go wrong,” he said.
