I grew up in the Augusta area, living in Waynesboro for as long as I can remember. I went to college in Indianapolis, interned at the Chronicle over summer and Christmas breaks, and landed a job as sports clerk the summer after I graduated. Eventually, the sports job turned into writing for the business section and now I report on local business happenings as well as writing for the Shopgirl column/blog.

Tailgate at Old Navy, turn up the volume with iLuv speaker case and shop Missoni for Target collection soon

Football season is here in full swing, and Old Navy wants to officially kick off with a tailgate party in their stores on Sept. 3 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The party will be introducing their Superfan Nation shop - a new section of clothing and accessories with NFL and collegiate licensed logos for whoever your favorite teams are.
There will be snacks, games and maybe even some athletes signing autographs at the party. Old Navy employees in both Aiken and Augusta confirmed that there will be exciting things at their parties, but you'll have to come check it out to see for yourself.
Superfan Nation inventory starts as low as $5.50 for accessories and $14.94 for apparel.

Have you gotten an iPad yet? I'm still coveting, but one complaint I hear a lot from iPad owners is that the built-in speakers aren't so great.
iLuv Creative Technology has come out with a speaker case for the iPad and other tablets that boosts the speaker quality so you can party down on a higher level.
They call it the iLuv iSP210, and it's available in three colors. It operates on four AA batteries, meaning it doesn't sap your device battery. You slip your tablet into the pocket, plug in the speaker jack, zip up the neoprene case and turn the volume up.
I've read on a couple of blogs that more colors will come out soon, which would be nice. The blue, pink and black options aren't that exciting.
Get your speaker case on Amazon for $49.99 plus shipping and handling.

Missoni, the Italian fashion house known for their brightly colored knitwear, is partnering with Target for one of the most promising fashion teamups yet.
Target has become known for bringing high fashion names to their customers at reasonable prices, but this collection looks to be one of the best.
From bicycles to scarves to couches, the signature Missoni bright chevron print is going to be all over Target in early September.
I'm already making a list of items I want to grab once they're in stores. The five-piece espresso set ($39.99) and the velvety-looking throw ($39.99) are at the top.
The clothing, of course, looks great as well. The knit skirts are all around $40, and would be a great cool-weather item to spice up anyone's closet.
