GreenJackets Gameday: Recent college arms square off in rubber game

Friday, July 19 - 7:05 p.m.

Lakewood BlueClaws (12-15, 38-56)

Jon Prosinski (16.1 IP, 3.86 ERA, 2.83 FIP, 17.7 K%, 3.8 BB%, .410 BABIP)

Augusta GreenJackets (12-12, 50-43)

Chris Stratton (84 IP, 3.96 ERA, 2.83 FIP, 24.9 K%, 7.9 BB%, .342 BABIP)

The rubber game of the Lakewood series features two recent college pitchers with solid track records.

The home pitcher most know about. Chris Stratton looked very good in his last home start before rain cut it short, but he threw three scoreless innings with two strikeouts and showed excellent stuff. His most recent outing was six innings of four-run ball against Charleston, walking two and striking out six.

The last month's worth of games have been up and down for Stratton. He had consecutive outings where he allowed a combined two runs in 12 innings, striking out 15. That was backed by six runs but three earned in 7.2 innings at Asheville on June 30. After the suspended start at home, his four earned runs allowed against Charleston was his most since June 2.

The GreenJackets will face Jon Prosinski, who is making his South Atlantic League debut after throwing 16.1 innings for short-season Williamsport to begin his career. Prosinski is a 10th-round pick in the 2013 draft out of Seton Hall, where he holds records for most innings and strikeouts in school history. He has a good build at 6-foot-3, 195 pounds, and is 22 years old.

Augusta reached the eight-run mark Thursday night for the third time this month. The GreenJackets have picked up the hitting a bit this week despite trading wins and losses, scoring at least four runs in each of the four games. They still left eight in scoring position in a 5-4 loss Wednesday night, but the fact that they're getting on base is the main thing.
