I had the privilege of witnessing my first assignment I walked away from still confused of what I just saw.

Thank the good people of the world for their incessant need to always update Wikipedia. It was there I found straightforward answers.

In a nutshell hashing is a social drinking event. Running can be allowed or walking. Terrain is optional but usually in wooded areas. Adult situations can arise and although they say they promote running, it's far from competitive athletics.

For about an hour we went romping through the woods following a flour trail. When we found the first hashing station people stopped to grab drinks in a cooler, smoke and sing songs. Repeat.

The final destination was back at the bar where "virgins" were initiated by drinking from toilet plungers. Unused of course.

I kept asking people the point of all this and got about six different answers. Maybe that's the point. No one really knows. But having a good time is.

To each their own.

Still a little confused, but not,
