My Weekly Power Poll

1. Thomson-6-0

2. Washington County-6-0

3. Burke County-5-1

4. Strom Thurmond-6-1

5. North Augusta-5-2

6. Aquinas-5-0

7. Silver Bluff-6-1

8. Washington-Wilkes-5-1

9. Lincoln County-4-1

10. Augusta Christian-7-0

-Washington-Wilkes’ loss led to all the changes this week. The previously unbeaten Tigers got blanked 31-0 by Jefferson on the road, so they drop. But it’s only a two-spot fall, considering the 15-point win at Lincoln County gives Washington-Wilkes a buffer. At least right now, I don’t see much sense in ranking the Red Devils higher than the Tigers.

-That could change, however. Without question, Aquinas-LincolnCounty is the game of the area this week, especially when history is included. Can the Irish end the long streak (31 games) to Lincoln County?

-There are some other interesting games this week for the ranked bunch. Thomson visits Swainsboro, Washington County goes to Jefferson County, Strom Thurmond visits Swansea, White Knoll travels to North Augusta and Augusta Christian is on the road against Hammond. Oh, and Silver Bluff plays Edisto, who’s 2-0 in the region. Whew.
