Greenbrier at Jones County
This is the region opener for both schools, and Greenbrier had two weeks to prepare. It’s also the first meeting since 2005, when the Wolfpack won by 29. Though Greenbrier has won three of four meetings, the Greyhounds’ offense is better than Greenbrier’s.
Jones County, 28-7
Northside (Warner Robins) at Lakeside
Just look at Lakeside’s schedule to begin the season. In their first four games, the Panthers have played Statesboro, Thomson and now the Eagles. The latest opponent is 3-0 and ranked No. 2 in Class AAAAA.
Northside (Warner Robins), 49-14
Lincoln County at First Presbyterian
The Red Devils should begin region play with a win. Lincoln County is coming off a bye week as it plays the Vikings for the first time. First Presbyterian probably doesn’t have enough to make the upset.
Lincoln County, 28-13
Richmond Academy at Wayne County
The Musketeers have won two in a row after losing to Evans and Statesboro in their first two games. Meanwhile, Wayne County just got its first win of the year at Butler. These two haven’t played since the 2007 season, when Richmond Academy won 14-9.
Wayne County, 24-14
Westminster (Atlanta) at Thomson
How many rushing yards will Chris Jordan get? The back has looked great so far this season, and he should have another 150-plus night this week. Westminster has played a brutal schedule so far, but the Bulldogs are too good to lose this one.
Hancock Central at Warren County
We all know what happened after last year’s game. But there will be a stronger security presence than usual for this game just to make sure there isn’t another brawl or anything similar. As for the game itself, the Screaming Devils move back to .500 at 2-2.
Warren County, 13-12
Washington-Wilkes at Union County
What a start for the Tigers. They’re 4-0, have scored at least 46 points three times and have given up only 12 total points. The Panthers are also unbeaten at 3-0 – matching 2011’s victory total – but Washington-Wilkes will keep marching on.
Dublin at Westside
The Patriots tasted defeat for the first time a week ago, but they’re still 3-1. However, Dublin is a tough opponent to see the first week of region play. Sure, Dublin is 0-4 this season. But it went 11-2 a year ago and is probably fired up to get a win. Westside will keep it pretty close.
