New Walmart plans still pending with the city

The site plan for the new Walmart is still pending with the city.

According to Augusta’s planning and zoning department, there are still some entities that need to sign off on the plans, like trees and the traffic engineer, but the city engineer and utilities think it is fine.

Walmart is building a new store at 3336 Wrightsboro Road. That’s the Forest Hills shopping center, where New Life Christian Center is set up.

The new store will be 147,000 square feet, which is about 100,000 square feet smaller than the supercenters in Evans and Martinez. The reason is that this Walmart will not have a car care center.

Developers have said that the 10 months of construction could begin in March 2013.

A MASTER FACELIFT: Master Chevrolet Cadillac in Aiken is in renovation mode.

The front of the dealership is getting a new design, the customer service area is getting bigger and the showroom is getting an overhaul. The parking lot is getting a new surface.

The Master dealership in Augusta took over the Aiken dealership, then known as Henna Chevrolet Cadillac, in 2010. Henna had just won a battle with General Motors, which was trying to purge 2,600 dealerships from its network during the height of its recession-caused financial problems.

The structure was built in 1965 and has gotten minor renovations over the years, said president Will Schafer.

It will take about four months to complete the job.

Everything is going to stay open during the work.

E-Z-GO ON THE IPAD: E-Z-Go has turned to an Apple iPad app to help customers choose the model that they want. They’re calling the app the E-Z-Go Experience.

After customers design the golf car of their dreams, the app will e-mail the specs to the nearest dealer.
