Augusta Regional Airport starts traveler loyalty program

Augusta Regional Airport is launching a new traveler loyalty program.

It is going to be managed by the company that runs the parking there, Republic Parking, and airport officials are soliciting participation from local businesses.

Shoppers who go to those businesses, which already includes the shops, food and parking at the airport, will get frequent flier miles which can be used with Delta, American Eagle and US Airways Express, the airlines that serve the Augusta airport.

Since the reward program is through Thanks Again, people enrolled in Augusta can get miles from other airports too. The enrollment is free and the exchange is $1 spent gets one mile.

INTELLIGENCE HIRING: Kudos to an online reader that pointed out all the intelligence job openings at Fort Gordon. Science Applications International Corp.is hiring. The company has three offices in Augusta and three more on the base. In a search of their site, I can see 47 local job openings that almost all require a top secret security clearance and a polygraph.

It doesn’t take a SIGINT Geospatial Operator to realize the benefit of intelligence jobs that pay between $40,000 to $100,000.

Among the myriad of things that SAIC does, it is the principal defense contractor for Joint Intelligence Operations Capability-Iraq, providing military forces with

access to critical intelligence.

THE FINAL COUNTDOWN: Dow Jones is reporting that the sale of the GlaxoSmithKline consumer unit is in its final stages. We’ll soon know who will own the GSK plant in Aiken and what they plan to do with it. Among all of the other product lines that GSK is selling off is Alli, which is only made in Aiken.
