You can satisfy a craving for top-notch Japanese cuisine on the cheap and in a hurry at Domo Japanese Grill, 1522 North Leg Road.
Domo earned high marks from Lunch Buddy Donna and me on a recent frantic weekday visit.
The restaurant has the look of a fast food outlet, and it's indeed fast but good. You order at the counter and your food is taken to your booth.
Donna's hibachi steak ($7.50) and my hibachi chicken ($5.95) were moist and cooked to perfection, served with a pleasing mix of vegetables with fried rice. Entree portions were huge and were accompanied by two heaping helpings of rice. We only needed half that amount.
The prices here are more than reasonable. We added egg rolls ($1) and miso soup ($1.95) to our order and were still out of there for less than $20, including tip. Donna's egg rolls were fresh, hot and good, and the soup was light and pleasant.
We were well fed and out of there within a half hour, a perfect work-week respite.

I'd like to see a new (and greatly improved) Health Department inspection score.
Thanks for the input, y'all.
Thanks for the input, y'all. Glad I can help, TakeAstand. And as for the health inspection score, I agree, Fiat, but having worked in food service a loooong time ago, less-than-perfect scores don't bother me unless they are part of a trend.
