The 2009 United Way of the CSRA campaign raised $4,276,251. The annual campaign raises funds for more than 40 programs.
During its annual meeting, several awards were presented:
2009 Alvin W. Vogtle Volunteer of the Year Award
Walter Dukes, Georgia Power's regional vice president received the award. He also received a $2,000 check from Southern Nuclear Operating Company to donate to the charity of his choice. The award is given to a person in the community in recognition for their volunteer work.
2009 Hospital Competition Award
University Health Care System received the award. The award is based on the total per capita giving, which includes the corporate gift. Doctors Hospital and MCG Health Inc. also participated in the competition.
2009 Spirit of the Community Award
Proctor & Gamble Manufacturing Company received the award. The award is given to the company that had the "most comprehensive, creative, and innovative United Way campaign", according to a release.
