Just in case you’ve never read my blog before, let me catch you up. In Mid-March of 2012 I adopted a puppy. I had had Puppy Fever for weeks. I kept trying to convince myself that I really didn’t want all of the work and expense associated with a puppy. But then I saw a picture that ate up my heart. There she was, my sweet Mayrose. I knew what I would name her, even before I met her.
The folks that I got Mayrose from did not know her exact birth date. But, I counted backward from her 6 week age and rounded off to February 1, 2012.
For the record, I swore that I would never:
1) Dress her like a baby girl
2) Fuss at her when she made an accident in the house
3) Feed her table food, or
4) Throw a birthday party for her.
Can I just tell you that I have failed on all four counts? It’s true. And besides, Mayrose is super cute in her dresses.
Her official birthday party (Lord, I can’t believe that I’m saying these words) is going to be on Saturday, February 2, 2013. Her party menu will include individual, tiny, 94% fat free meat loaves shaped like dog bones and Le Suer peas for everyone in attendance. Her friend Maisey, the sweetest Jack Russell on the planet, will be coming to the party, as well as Mayrose’s brothers, Harrie and Grady. Invites have also been extended to Sara J. the long haired datsun, and Rosco the yorkie, who are the precious pups of a dear friend.
You may call me certifiable, but I call me FUN! She’ll only have one FIRST BIRTHDAY and I just can’t believe my baby is no longer a baby.
So, tell me, do you celebrate your dog’s birthday? If so, what do you do to celebrate?
Until next time, wag on, Augusta!
