Have a blast on Saturday celebrating the Fourth of July with Symphony Orchestra Augusta at Lake Oconee, Ga.
The Oconee Performing Arts Society will play host to the third annual BLAST!, which will feature the symphony performing Sondheim selections.
The orchestra will perform at Reynolds Plantation at 8 p.m. and will share the stage with Broadway performer Raul Esparsa, who has earned Tony nominations for his performances in Speed the Plow, The Homecoming, Company, and Taboo. Fireworks will begin at 9:30 p.m.
There are numerous recreational opportunities around the lake. Several places offer boat and personal watercraft rentals. Lake Oconee Outfitters provides guided water skiing (with lessons for novices), or a tour of the lake on a pontoon boat. If you want to spend some time on dry land, they also offer horseback riding.
Shopaholics can search for art and antique treasures in downtown Greensboro.
Guided fishing tours are offered on the lake, and there are six golf courses in the area.
