Library Fines Increase

Borrowers who fail to return public library books on time will now pay more in late fees. Public Information Network for Electronic Services (PINES), or Georgia’s public library automation and lending network, has now increased the overdue fee for books from 10 cents per day to 20 cents per day, according to a release.

The increase will affect books in the collections of all PINES member libraries, including those of the East Central Georgia Regional Library System (Richmond County, Burke County, Columbia County, Lincoln County and Warren County).

Similar fee increases for overdue magazines, audio books, compact discs and other items are currently under review and could be implemented in the coming months.
