The Salvation Army of Augusta Kroc Center will hold an American Diabetes Alert Day event on Tuesday from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
Anyone that takes a free, one minute Diabetes Risk Test or a free diabetes education class will receive a free day of admission to the Kroc Center, which must be redeemed the same day, according to a release.
The Diabetes Risk Test will inform attendees if they are at risk for developing type 2 diabetes. It is a simple written test that will be administrated by the Kroc Center’s personal trainers.
Free diabetes education classes are also available. They will be led by a guest speaker from University Hospital at 5 or 5:30 p.m.
The classes are designed for adults or adults with children and will incorporate open discussion so that guests may have their diabetes-related questions answered. Attendees at the classes will also receive a free day at the Kroc Center, which must be redeemed the same day.
Also as part of American Diabetes Alert Day at the Kroc Center, two special Junior Fitness classes will be offered at 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. Junior Fitness is a combination of sports exercises, strength exercises, fun games and cardiovascular training.
