A free seminar on veterans’ benefits will be held at 10 a.m. on March 3 at Washington Commons, an independent retirement community at 100 Washington Commons Drive in Evans.
The seminar is designed to teach veterans and surviving spouses about the Department of Veterans Affairs’ Aid and Attendance benefits program, for which they might qualify to receive up to $2,019 per month.
The event will offer details about the history of Aid and Attendance, outline the requirements to qualify for this tax-free benefit and educate applicants about required documentation, according to a release. Veterans Affairs planning specialists will be available to provide a free prequalification interview for anyone interested in applying.
This benefit is primarily designed for veterans 65 and older who have served anywhere in the world or at home during World War II, the Korean Conflict or Vietnam War. Veterans are not required to have wartime injuries in order to qualify. Healthy veterans providing care for a spouse may also qualify.
Seating is limited, so guests should RSVP by calling Washington Commons at (706) 860-0402. To learn more about the Aid and Attendance benefits, visit http://holidaytouch.com/Veterans/aid-attendance-benefits.aspx.
